OLV School Blessing by Father Shields

Heavenly Father, God of all wisdom and truth, You have gathered these students and teachers under the mantle of Our Lady of the Valley - a school where the mind is formed, the heart is converted, and the soul is made ready for eternal life. We thank You for the gift of this new year. We thank You for the daily gift of the Most Holy Eucharist, for the grace that flows from the silence of Adoration, and for the mercy poured out in the Sacrament of Confession. This is not an ordinary school. Here, Christ is not just spoken of - He is received, He is adored, He is encountered.

For the Students, let us pray:

May the Spirit of God grant each student the gifts of wisdom and understanding - not only to learn what is true, good, and beautiful in this world, but to know the One who is Truth, Goodness, and Beauty Himself. Send Your Spirit upon these students and fill them with Your wisdom and blessings. Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies and draw ever closer to You, the source of all knowledge. May they kneel before the Blessed Sacrament and learn what no textbook can teach - that they are known, loved, and called by name.

For the Teachers and Staff, let us pray:

May they share their knowledge with gentleness, patience, and concern for their students. May they teach as those who know they will give an account - not only for what they taught, but for the souls entrusted to them. May Our Lady, Seat of Wisdom, guide every lesson, every correction, and every act of love within these walls.

For the Parents, let us pray:

As the first teachers of their children, may their faith and love be an example always. May they be worthy partners in this great work of forming saints.

Prayer of Blessing:

Lord God, You are the source of all wisdom and knowledge. We ask You to bless those who seek to learn and their teachers. Bless this school - its classrooms and corridors, its chapel and its altar. May every Mass celebrated here be a foretaste of Heaven. May every hour before the Blessed Sacrament be transforming. May every soul that enters the confessional leave lighter, freer, and closer to You. Grant that students and teachers alike may follow Jesus Christ - the Way, the Truth, and the Life - forever and ever. Under the protection of Our Lady of the Valley, may this school be a place where saints are made.
